A Walk To Remember
2002
Columbia Pictures
Directed by Adam Shankman
Starring Starring Shane West and Mandy Moore
Merv wrote the orchestral score for this popular film and also produced and arranged Mandy Moore’s featured song, “Only Hope.”
Trivia:
- In the award-winning film ‘The Blind Side’ (2009), Merv’s name appears in the credits, despite his not having been directly hired to write music for that film. In the movie, when Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) takes Big Mike to her family’s home, her daughter Collins is on the sofa, watching TV. In post-production, since the filmmakers decided to blur the TV screen, we can’t see what she’s watching. (Nor can we hear it.) But Collins was in fact watching ‘A Walk To Remember’ — a movie that Merv scored — and the scene she’s watching happens to include one of Merv’s cues, entitled “Eric Apologizes.” As such, Merv was entitled to a composer credit.
